Harnessing the principle that light appears dimmer when passing through thicker surfaces, we meticulously transformed each pixel of NASA’s high-resolution lunar map into intricate elevations on our moon model. As the lights illuminate, the moon comes to life, a breathtaking replica of its celestial counterpart.
We use PLA (polylactic acid) as the material for 3D printing, an eco-friendly and high-strength plant-based material, ensuring that every product is both aesthetically pleasing and sustainable.
In recreating the intricate textures of the moon, we employ a remarkable modeling precision of 65 microns. For slicing, we utilize a minimum layer thickness of 150 microns, meaning a 7-inch moon model consists of nearly 1,000 meticulously stacked layers. This level of detail brings the lunar surface to life with breathtaking accuracy.
To showcase the best possible product, we prioritize detail and craftsmanship over speed. As a result, it takes approximately 24 hours to produce each piece.
